I have alot of duties around the farm. I cook, bake, sew, crochet, put in a garden and do work at our church. I also create the items that become Grammie Sage products. From creating Jams & Jellies, to the Herbal Health products, I am the organizer for Grammie Sage & now Market Dayz. My favorite duty is anything involving my time with Alexandra!  My favorite church duty is the Bear Hug project I started. I have been sewing for 40 years and love seeing the quilts come together.

Quilt is pinned on a closet door near the ceiling "Bear Hug" Quilts: God gave Debra the idea to help the older children get through their serious illness, by letting them know that they were not alone. That even if their parents were not always with them, that there were people praying for them & giving them"Hugs"                                                             .                                     Debra She called Oklahoma University Children's  Hospital,  in Oklahoma City to see what they thought of this idea. She was told that they can have as many as 20-25 children a day in for out - patient treatments. That's when she realized that alone, she couldn't make enough quilts, so brought the project to Ascension Lutheran Church and anyone who wanted to join in and help with cutting, sewing or purchasing the needed supplies.

  Each quilt measures approximately         48" x 60", costs $30 and takes  1 person 7 - 8 hours to complete.

Thrivent has now helped with  another gift that will allow us to buy material for 17 more quilts. We need MORE help in buying and making these quilts, as the need is ongoing.

"Prayer Hug" Shawls: Some of the ladies said they didn't sew, but wanted to be a part of the Fun and Fellowship that “Bear Hugs” was bringing. So, If You Crochet, bring 3 1/2 skeins of yarn and a size N hook, If You Knit, bring 3 skeins of yarn and size 11 or 13 needles and come join us for lunch and Christian fellowship on the First Mondays of each month - 11:30 am to 4:00 pm - at Ascension Lutheran Church. We open with a prayer, enjoy a potluck lunch and get down to a day of Bear & Prayer Hugging. This project has brought great days of fellowship & new friends!

If you would like to make a donation, make the check out to Ascension Lutheran Church, write Bear Hugs ( $30) or Prayer Hugs ($10) in the memo. Mail it  or  Come join us at Ascension Lutheran Church     3617 SE 29th St.    Del City, OK 73115.

1. To come together to be a Hands On Ministry, to strengthen our own relationship with our congregation and with God.
2. To use the power of prayer and faith to hold each other and those in need of comfort in prayer.
3. To present those in need of comfort in our congregation and community with a “Hug” filled with love and prayers; so that they may wrap themselves in a tangible symbol of God’s love.

The recipients have a tangible reminder that they are in our prayers and to feel the love, comfort and peace of God.

The quilter, the knitter and the crocheter benefit from making the quilts and shawls by the blessings of giving to those that need encouragement and the fellowship enjoyed each month.

Call me if you have an interest and we'll work out a time and the cost.
